Music from France and Brazil

The Maple City Community Orchestra, Goshen Community Chorale, and The Open Fifths jointly invite you to our next concert, “Music from France and Brazil”, featuring works by French composer Gabriel Fauré and Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos.

This concert is free and open to the public.

Musical Landscapes

Musical Landscapes

Please join the Maple City Community Orchestra for the first concert in our 25th season, “Musical Landscapes”.

Our journey evokes images from lands near and far, including works by Borodin, Strauss, Frost, Jinosko, and Rose.

A special feature of this concert is the “St. Joseph River Suite” by local composers Marvin Curtis and Bryan Edington, which explores the people, places, and history of the river.

Mestizo America

Mestizo America

The final performance of our 2022-23 season, “Mestizo America”, took place on April 23 and featured the “Concierto Sinfónico Machu Picchu para Quena (flauta andina)” with noted musician and Goshen resident Nayo Ulloa playing the Quena (Andean folk flute) as solo instrument for this composition.

Ukrainian Rhapsody

Ukrainian Rhapsody

On February 19, Victoria Petrak and the Maple City Community Orchestra performed a special benefit concert that raised nearly $6,500 for medical relief to injured people in Ukraine.
A highlight of this concert was the American premiere performance of Victor Kaminsky’s orchestral arrangement of “Second Ukrainian Rhapsody” by Mykola Lysenko—with Ukranian-born Solomia Soroka, professor of music at Goshen College, performing as violin soloist.
